文章认为社会组织指政府与企业外面向社会自主提供某个领域公共服务的法人实体。现代社会出现大量的社会组织是历史发展的产物。社会组织的发展对完善社会管理起着重大作用。对社会组织可以作多种分类,以职能为主的分类标准,可将社会组织划分为准行政组织、事业组织、公益组织和中介组织四种基本类型。

Social organization" refers the corporate body representing a government or an enterprise and providing some services for the public. It is a historical outcome that numerous social organizations have emerged in modern society. The development of social organizations plays a key role in perfecting social administration. There are various types of social organizations with their functions as the dominant classification standard. There are four key types: quasi-administrative organization; government-sponsored institution; institution for the public welfare, and intermediary.
